Lake District August 2005
Last year I went camping in the Lake District, staying at the Park Cliffe Camp Site, near Bowness-on-Windermere. ."Don`t make me angry"
"I met this adder while out walking. I went round a bend and it was sunning itself in the middle
of the path. There was thick bracken on either side, so I could not go around it. After five
minutes of it glaring at me, showing no signs of moving off. I decided to move back round
the corner out of its vision. I peeked a couple of minutes later to see it moving off. I gave it
another minute to get deeper in. I passed my stick closest to where the adder had entered
so when it did not strike, I moved quickly past. An exciting start to my holiday".
